The Spencer Smith Weekend

For more than 20 years, Spencer Smith was one of the world's top professional triathletes—successful in all distances (sprint, Olympic, ½ Ironman, and Ironman). When you sign up with F12TRI, you gain the advantage of having a coach who knows the complexities of a multi-sport discipline.

Spencer has won over half of all the races he has ever started a phenomenal statistic that is almost unparalleled in world sport.

Spencer's Career Highlights
At the age of 20, Spencer became the youngest ever World and European Champion. He was then the first male triathlete to win consecutive Senior World Championships (1993 and 1994) in addition to his Junior World Championship in 1992.

Known and respected for his tough, hard-driving style of racing, away from the course he is universally considered to be one of the friendliest and most charismatic of triathletes.

Interestingly, he is also one of the very few champion triathletes to have raced in the highly competitive world of professional cycling (Lance Armstrong being another), where he spent the 1999/00 season with the Linda McCartney team before reverting to triathlon, proving his adaptability by winning Ironman Florida in a record time that still stands today.

F12 and Spencer Smith coaching philosophy
We believe athletes should be coached with a “hands on approach”. Our ultimate aim for F12 Tri coaching is to provide the athletes we coach with the tools necessary to reach their potential. We feel that building a close relationship between the athlete and Spencer will be instrumental in their success.

The camp is the perfect time to make changes to your training, both mentally and physically with the ultimate goal of spring boarding you to the next level. During the camp, Spencer will be available anytime to answer all your questions. We never want you to feel that a question may be silly or too small; please feel free to fire away on any subject. We will try to sit down with everyone individually and perhaps go over a number of topics of your choice (some examples of which could be; periodization, training tips, goal setting, race nutrition etc). But, please don’t feel any pressure. We simply want you to get the most out of your time at La Manga Club and for you to walk away with some good training tips and new ideas that will make you a more informed triathlete.
